Privacy Policy

This page is maintained by the owner of Indian in Singapore to explain, in plain language, what personal data we collect and how we handle it. Indian in Singapore is a personal, community-run site - not a registered company.

1. What we collect

  • Community signup form: name, email, and (optionally) WhatsApp number and interests you share with us.
  • Account signup: email address, and - if you use Google or Apple sign-in - the basic profile info those providers pass to us (name, email, avatar).
  • Content you submit: events, edits and posts you create.
  • Basic technical data: pages visited, device/browser type, approximate location from IP, referral source. This is standard web-server and analytics data.

2. How we use it

  • To let you sign in and manage your own posts.
  • To display the events and content you choose to submit.
  • To send occasional community updates if you signed up for them - never sold to third parties.
  • To improve the site (understand which guides are useful, fix bugs).

3. Where your data lives (subprocessors)

We use trusted third-party platforms to run the site. Your data may be processed by:

  • Lovable Cloud - backend infrastructure (database, authentication, storage).
  • Google - if you sign in with Google, and for Google Sheets sync of community signups (backup/spreadsheet).
  • Apple - if you sign in with Apple.
  • Public APIs for live data (exchange rates, weather) - these do not receive your personal data.

4. Cookies & similar tech

We use essential cookies/local storage to keep you signed in. We may use lightweight analytics to understand traffic. We do not run advertising trackers.

5. Retention

We keep account and post data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we'll delete it within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it (e.g. to prevent abuse).

6. Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal data at any time. Email hey@indianinsingapore.com and we'll respond within a reasonable time. In line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), we won't collect more data than we need for the purposes above.

7. Children

The site is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard protections provided by our backend platform (encrypted connections, access controls). No online service is 100% secure - please use a strong, unique password.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version.
